Capsule Geology

The area of the Twilight showing is underlain by Lower Permian limestone and calcareous sedimentary rocks of the Stikine Assemblage.

The showing consists of laminated and shear hosted sulphides that occur along the contact between massive limestone and phyllite. The zone is at least 5 metres wide and traceable for 500 metres. Sulphides include pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena, azurite and malachite. Assays of up to 1.47 grams per tonne gold, 137.49 grams per tonne silver, 11.08 per cent copper, 9.45 per cent lead and 2.82 per cent zinc have been returned from the showing (Assessment Report 21143).

During September of 1989, two man-days were spent prospecting for Slocan Developments Ltd. During this time, 22 rock samples were collected. One rock sample contained significant zinc (0.14 per cent) and copper (0.043 per cent) (Assessment Report 19897). In 1990, exploration consisted of stream sediment silt sampling and prospecting followed by further prospecting, contour soil sampling hand trenching and geological mapping of mineralized showings (Assessment Report 21143).

In 1989, 1990 and 1991, Consolidated Goldwest Resources traced the Twilight zone onto their Bell and JD claims and located two showings called the Alder and Drop showings (Assessment Report 19516, 20791 and 21706).
